Last Sunday, August 17d began as a spectacular day. It was sunny and warm,
drummer Chris Higginbottom and his trio hit the stage straight up at 4:30pm.
The made it through two great swingin' renditions and then, BOOM, the skies
opened up on us. The rain hit so fast most of us including the band got soaked.
It took us all completely by surprise. Well, we'll see about getting a rain
date. In any case, the next and second to last SWING DATE is SEPT 28th, SUNDAY.
Please note that the entire Season Calendar for Central Park Swings is always
listed below on this page. We apologize if there have been listing on other
sites with incorrect information about these dates.

No band was found for this date and due to the difficult accoustics to work with, I have chosen not to bring out the recorded music sound system, as it was not effective enough last month on it's own. A new notice will be posted shortly including info about the bands lined up for the remaining 3 dates. June 26th 2002 posting:
Thanks for all the great attendance last Sunday. It was a scorcher of a day but clearly that just adds more flames to the dancers on fire. If you noticed the sound conflict with the drummers last Sunday from 5-6pm don't worry. This has been resolved according to NYC Parks and Recreation and beginning in July, they will either be moved or will start later. However, this Sunday, we will end earlier to avoid this issue.
We are offering a line dance lesson at 2:30pm this Sunday as well. NJ Swing Dance revivalist "Earl of Swing" will be offering instruction on the Shim Sham!
